Program History

Started in 1982, VICTORY grew out of the Carver Branch Librarian's desire to help students achieve success in school by providing a homework center staffed by community volunteers. By the late 1980's, the Oak Springs and University Hills branches also had homework centers. In 1992, the Â鶹¹û¶³´«Ã½ Public Library received a VISTA grant to provide coordination support for the centers, and the VICTORY Program was officially established. Now in collaboration with AISD Department of Student Support Services, student and tutor participation in the program has grown steadily.
