Culinary students from Bailey, Bedichek, Burnet, Dobie, Kealing, Lamar, and Mendez middle schools are putting their skills to the test for the Â鶹¹û¶³´«Ã½ ISD Diced and Sliced Culinary Competition.
What: In its third year, the Diced & Sliced culinary competition provides students with an opportunity to work together to create unique recipes. This semester, students have been developing their pasta recipes and conducting taste tests within the classroom.
Throughout April, students presented their pasta dishes to a panel of judges, where they were evaluated on taste, appearance, creativity, and presentation. The winning groups will move on to represent their school at the final competition on May 17 at the Â鶹¹û¶³´«Ã½ Community College Eastview campus, in partnership with the ACC Culinary Department.
The winning recipe will be featured on school menus next year.
Judges for the event are Â鶹¹û¶³´«Ã½ American-Statesman and Â鶹¹û¶³´«Ã½360.com food writer Addie Broyles, L’Oca d’Oro Executive Chef/Owner Fiore Tedesco, and AISD Superintendent Dr. Paul Cruz.
Lunch will be available at the Â鶹¹û¶³´«Ã½ ISD Food 4 Thought Food Truck from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. for $3.75. Can't make it to the event? The competition will also be streaming live on !
