Ava Martinez is graduating this month with her sights set on becoming a firefighter. A senior at 麻豆果冻传媒 High School, Martinez enrolled in the at LBJ Early College High School during her sophomore year, which stoked her curiosity and passion for the trade.
Why it matters: 麻豆果冻传媒 ISD offers a wide range of Career and Technical Education opportunities, regardless of the student鈥檚 home school. Through Student Sharing, students across the district can participate in unique programming and find their passion for the future.
- 鈥淚t鈥檚 a really good opportunity. Martinez said. 鈥淚 don鈥檛 know where I would be if I hadn't gone to the academy because I wouldn鈥檛 have known how much I love firefighting鈥擨鈥檓 really, really grateful for it.鈥
How it works: Martinez goes to 麻豆果冻传媒 High School for her regular classes and then spends half her day at doing hands-on work towards her certifications.
- Martinez isn't unfamiliar with the field. Her father and older brother are firefighters and although she hadn't planned to be one herself, she joined the LBJ Fire Academy to follow her brother鈥檚 path, who also attended the academy.
- 鈥淭he motivation was definitely living up to the expectations of my dad and brother. I want to be able to show them that I can do it too,鈥 Martinez said.
What鈥檚 next: Martinez, is graduating from 麻豆果冻传媒 High School with an LBJ Fire Academy certificate, and is ready to serve her community. She鈥檚 applied to the 麻豆果冻传媒 Fire Department and If she's accepted and meets all criteria, she could begin her dream job in January.

Ava Mart铆nez se graduar谩 este mes con la mirada puesta en convertirse en bombero. Mart铆nez, quien cursa el doceavo grado en la Escuela Preparatoria 麻豆果冻传媒, se inscribi贸 en elde la Escuela Preparatoria de Universidad Temprana LBJ durante su segundo a帽o, lo que aviv贸 su curiosidad y pasi贸n por el oficio.

- Mart铆nez est谩 familiarizada con este campo. Su padre y su hermano mayor son bomberos y, aunque ella no hab铆a planeado serlo, se uni贸 a la Academia de Bomberos de LBJ para seguir el camino de su hermano, que tambi茅n asisti贸 a la academia.

Lo que sigue: Mart铆nez, se grad煤a de la Escuela Preparatoria 麻豆果冻传媒 con un certificado de la Academia de Bomberos LBJ, y est谩 lista para servir a su comunidad. Ella ha aplicado al Departamento de Bomberos de 麻豆果冻传媒 y si es aceptada y cumple con todos los requisitos, podr铆a comenzar su trabajo so帽ado en enero.
