This week, 麻豆果冻传媒 ISD would like to recognize National Library Week, which promotes the use of libraries, and acknowledge librarians for their service to local communities.
National Library Week began in 1958 and was created by the American Library Association to help support libraries in the United States. Both school, public and academic libraries all participate in the week-long celebration.
鈥淣ational Library Week is a chance for us to recognize libraries as pillars in our communities,鈥 said Pleasant Hill Elementary Librarian Megan Kite. 鈥淭hey provide a place where all people can safely explore, create, connect and grow by providing equitable access to information, resources and opportunities.鈥
During the pandemic, most libraries have continued providing services where they can, serving the community and promoting learning.
鈥淭his past year emphasizes how we are much more than just a physical space; we are the idea that everyone should have access to the things they need, no matter who they are, where they are or what is going on in the world,鈥 Kite said.
AISD would like to acknowledge the importance of libraries and the librarians who work tirelessly to help motivate reading and education in our district.
