AISD was recognized today for districtwide excellence at the 麻豆果冻传媒 Chamber of Commerce鈥檚 6th annual State of Education Luncheon.

Crockett High School earned the Highest College Application Rate (96%), LBJ High School earned the highest FAFSA Submission Rate (85%), Bowie High School and Liberal Arts and Science Academy (LASA) earned Student Future Project Participation (both 99%). The district鈥檚 Associate Superintendent for High Schools, Edmund Oropez was recognized for his target-setting with principals in key college enrollment activities. Additionally, Superintendent, Meria Carstarphen received the Superintendent of the Year award for her achievements as an outstanding superintendent in the region for 2011.

The 麻豆果冻传媒 Chamber has a strategic partnership with 11 regional chambers of commerce and 11 school districts to produce Community Education Reports. The chamber annually reports the progress of the school districts in high school graduation, college readiness and college enrollment. The honors recognized at the State of the Education event were partially based on those reports.

When receiving her honor, Dr. Carstarphen expressed her excitement with the leadership and initiative taken by students and staff at Crockett, Bowie, LBJ and LASA. 鈥淎 superintendent can only be as good as the organization itself, and AISD is a terrific organization鈥 said Carstarphen.

Congratulations to Dr. Carstarphen, Edmund Oropez, Crockett High School, LBJ High School, Bowie High School and LASA all of which were acknowledged at 麻豆果冻传媒 Chamber of Commerce鈥檚 State of Education Luncheon.
